| The research at the Centre
of Competence for Informal Education (CCIE) at the Faculty for Educational
Sciences at the University of Bielefeld focuses on various questions
in the context of the development of quality criteria for online-offers
for young people from an educational and social scientist perspective.
The CCIE evaluates online-offers for young people in the field
of youth work and youth welfare services. The special emphasis lies
here on the question of “digital inequality”, i.e. the
social diverse internet use of various milieus in the informal education
sector. In this context studies on internet-use of young people were conducted
aswell as evaluations of theoretical and practical models of informal
              and
non-formal education in the context of the virtual space.
The research of the CCIE is aiming at developing evaluation criteria
for user orientated informal education as well as surveying of educational
demands of various user groups who are restricted in terms of access
to and use of education on the internet (“Digital Divide”
              and “Digital Inequality”).
